Goodbye 2008

Its New Years Eve everyone!! I’d love to say that I can’t wait for this year new to begin but the truth is I’d be lying. I haven’t yet decide if I’m excited for this year to come. Although these pass few weeks have been quite depressing due to some... emotional problems I’ve had (ok one problem, the same one for the past 3 years for those of you who know what I’m talking about), the rest to the year has been pretty good (refer to previous blog post about achievements in the past year). Next year however, is going to be pretty scary, what with my current failing grade in IB and the fact that my final exams are basically 4 months away. Oo and possibly the fact that I’ll have two incredibly naggy parents on my back for not working, I don’t know which is worst. But I do work. Not all the time or with full focus but I do. Take today for example, I’ve been sitting here in Starbucks since 12. Its now 4.30. And I haven’t taken any long breaks yet. This is definitely a first, aren’t you proud of me? Anyway, I should look on the bright side, CLASS OF 09’ BABY! Hellz yeah!!! And the Eurotrip Extravaganza! Just two things that make me extremely excited for the new year.

Now, back to whats been happening over the past few weeks. Yes, I know its been over three weeks since my last post and I’m sorry my lovelies but what can I say, I’m a busy person. The much anticipated 17th birthday has pasted and to tell you the truth, not about much about me has changed. Who was I to hope that by some miracle I would suddenly gain a sense of organisation and focus.

The birthday went well, although not to a good start. Yes, the Friday night was my fault on account of my falling asleep, missing my brother’s gig where him and his band mate (who coincidentally is 3 months older than me and two grades below. I just find it hilarious.) learnt the birthday song for me, guitars and all, and I didn’t even show up till it ended. You should have seen the looks their little groupies gave me, quite funny. Also due to my extreme tiredness, I did not go out on the Friday, which probably was a good thing cause I needed my energy for the birthday day itself.

The reason I say it started of bad is some people (Saara, I’m pointing my finger at you) did not bother telling me they weren’t coming to the Day part of my birthday. Even after constant calling with said person not answering and even when she answered said she was coming only she didn’t show up and instead went to Ritika’s house instead to get ready for the evening ahead. The others, I wasn’t so mad with cause they sorta told me they weren’t coming though I wasn’t really sure. But still. It was my Birthday and that made me sad.

We went to Yantra for an amazing Indian dinner. I would really recommend it. The ambience and food is really really good. We got a table on the private deck outside which was nice and by the end of dinner everything was good with said people. Leonore had told the people at the restaurant that it was my birthday and they bought a to-die-for brownie. Omg it was amazing. After dinner, we walked to the end of the pathway between the back of Tanglin Mall and Traders Hotel where the girls surprised me with a bottle of sparkling wine and a cupcake before we went to Clarke Quey for drinks at Fashion Bar and Shiraz. We met a few people from school there and Wen remembered that it was my birthday and told everyone which Kathlin run up and tell the people in Shiraz, who went on to play the birthday song and then everyone in the lane knew. How embarrassing.

The last week of school was dull, as usual, though at the end of the week was ZoukOut. It was awesome!! I wasn’t really sure about it before, but I’m glad I went now. The beach, the crowd, the lights, the music... just amazing!! I can’t wait for next year!! Didn’t get home till 8 in the morning though and my mum got mad. Hmmm

The rest of the time between has been pretty uneventful. Even christmas which usually gets my hopes up just made me sad this year, what with no one here and all.

And so I end with today, New Years Eve. I’ll be at home, listening to the sounds of the Foals and Catlow and prancing about in my sexy new killer heels. I had the perfect new year’s in my dreams last night and I don’t want to ruin it with my with some lame countdown party thing that not as good. So never fear my loves, I’ll have Hummer by the Foals pulsing through my veins tonight to keep me in my high sprits. Go out and have fun.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year everyone,
You know you love me,
One and only,
Nadine the Queen xoxo

p.s. I promise to write sooner next time:)

Truely Sweet Sixteen...

Five things at sixteen:

As I write this post, I am about to enter into a new period of my life in about 19 mins, I’d like to look back upon the wonderful (or not so wonderful due to the IB) age that is 16. Five good things that I’ve done in the past year that I’ve been proud of. Ummm well four things I’m proud of and one I’m not so sure about.

Mc Mac!!

Mc Mac is my baby and I got it from my Daddy for my 16th birthday.

2.Getting my hair cut!!

Yes I know. You’ve heard it before, and I’m sorry but I do love my hair. Getting my hair was pretty scary if you’ve never had hair that short before. I am still so upset about having to grow it out but I need it long for graduation (which btw is only 5 months and 18 days to go).

3.Getting drunk for the first time.

This is the one that I’m not so proud of. Usually, my tolerance is quite high, but I did manage to throw up all over the place on two occasions this year. Yes, I know that is absolutely disgust, but the reason I say its a good thing is because it has taught me not to drink so much cause it makes you feel like shit. Believe me.

4. Going to LCF and CSM in the summer.

For those of you may not know what LCF or CSM stand for, it means London College of Fashion and Central St. Martins. These are the two places I attend courses for 16-18 year old in the summer. The Introduction to the Fashion Industry at London College of Fashion and Fashion Styling at Central St. Martins. As you can imagine, I absolutely loved the courses. Met lots of new people from all over the world that share my interests and got to do something I love. These courses help assured me that that is exactly what I want to do in Uni. It also helped me discover my love for Fashion Photography and how much I would rather do that instead of the business side of Fashion. Below are some of the pictures I took as part of my final presentation and the friends I made while I was there.

5. Visiting lots of places, both new and old.

This past year, I’ve been to Japan, Vietnam, Melaka, Scotland, London, Portugal, Norway and Spain. That’s a lot of places (for me anyways). I love travelling and being on a plane going somewhere new. Its what makes me want to take a gap year, if only I had someone to go with.
